SeaTrees Sustainable Surf's mission is to regenerate the health of our ocean planet. They believe the ocean is the hero of our story — to boost biodiversity, support local communities and reverse climate change. To help enable the ocean's superpowers, they plant, protect, and restore coastal ecosystems, while activating people to live a more sustainable, ocean positive life. Global programs, like SeaTrees and the ECOBOARD Project, are onramps for brands and individuals to have a direct and measurable positive impact on our planet.

Planting Mangroves This grant will support Sustainable Surf's SeaTrees program and mangrove project in Kenya, in partnership with COBEC. The grant will fund the planting of 4,000 mangrove trees in Marereni, Kenya creating critical habitat for threatened species and protecting the local community from storm surges and sea-level rise. The project also helps sequester carbon in one of the most efficient ways possible. In fact, mangrove forests are 5x more effective at storing carbon than tropical forests.

Mangrove Trees The project provides sustainable employment and generates economic opportunities for the local community. This means community members can provide meals to their families, pay for school fees, and gain access to health care with wages earned through mangrove nursery management.

COBEC will also use this grant to purchase refurbished computers that will assist their team in conducting restoration and monitoring work.
